比过去发生更早的持续性动作（动态动词）

我们使用过去完成进行时搭配动态动词来谈论比故事的主要事件更早开始的持续性动作。

I was angry. I had been waiting for him in the cold, and he didn’t call to say he’d be late.  我很生气。我一直在寒冷中等他，他没有打电话说他会迟到。
We had been driving for less than an hour when the car broke down. 我们开车不到一个小时，汽车就坏了。
