避免混淆：on the way 和 in the way

on the way 和 in the way 是兩個非常相似的片語，但它們的用法有所不同。

on the way

on the way 的意思是“在途中”。如果我們需要說出我們的目的地，後面可以跟 to 。同樣地，我們也可以說 on my/his/her/Lucy’s way，意思相同。

Let’s stop for lunch on the way.  讓我們在路上停下來吃午餐。
I must have dropped my wallet on my way to the shops. 我一定是在去商店的路上掉了錢包。
When we were on the way to France, we met Lucy! 當我們去法國的路上，遇到了露西！

on the way 也可以表示”靠近或朝向目標”。

Your parcel is on the way. 你的包裹正在路上。 （它正在郵寄到你手上的過程中。）
He is on the way to being a really good violin player. 他正在成為一名非常優秀的小提琴手。 （他將來會成為一名優秀的小提琴手。他現在接近這個目標。）

in the way

in the way 的意思是“佔用某人需要的空間”。後面可以跟 of 來表示什麼東西或人需要這個空間。同樣地，我們也可以使用 in my/his/her/Julie’s way，意思相同。

This box is right in the way! Let’s put it in the bedroom. 這個盒子就在路上！讓我們把它放在臥室裡。
Don’t stand in front of me! You’re in my way. 別站在我面前！你擋住了我。
In London, you need to stand on the right on the escalator so that you’re not in the way of people who want to walk down. 在倫敦，你需要站在扶手電梯的右邊，這樣你就不會妨礙想要走下來的人們。
